Assessment of Potentially Toxic Elements in the Urban Soil and Plants of Kirkuk City in Iraq

Kirkuk city is known for its industrial activities, especially oil and cement production, as well road traffic. The aim of this study was to assess potentially toxic elements (PTEs) in the soil plants from urban areas by measuring pollution indices estimating effect that has on environment. Leaf samples were taken 10 different locations Kirkuk. These pre-treated using acid digestion method concentrations 12 determined inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). results indicate a high content aluminum magnesium (mg/kg) all sites. For leaf samples, showed moderate low amount aluminum. Based our results, PTE found following order—Mg > Al Ni Cu Cr Pb Co As Se Cd Hg Ti—in However, Ti Hg—from Pollution level contamination Pb, Cd, Ni, plant sites city.
